4 Days Kidepo Valley National park

Kidepo valley national park is located in the northeastern corner close to Kenya and South Sudan and forming the farthest extremity of the remote, sparsely populated kalamonja region in the country. This park is known as one of the Africa’s most magnificent wildernesses with big games like elephants, leopard, cheetah, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, elands, roam grasslands, ostrich and the region is known for its rich cultural and their homesteads (manyatta homesteads) and so many interested things in the park.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: transfer to kidepo valley national park: you will wake up very at around 05:30 am and have breakfast by 06:00am you embark to your vehicle and set off for your long journey safari to northern Uganda with the first stopover to Masindi, the second stopover will be in gulu town for lunch and the proceed to kidepo valley national park. On your arrival to the park, you will check in at the lodge the company has booked for you, refresh up, have dinner and rest for the next day activity.

Day 2: full day game drive: you will wake up in the morning and have breakfast with packed lunch, embark to your vehicle for your morning game drive whereby you will be looking for lion, leopard, cheetah, ostrich, elephant, buffaloes and so many other animals and birds. Get in the evening and drive back to the lodge for dinner and night stay at the specific lodge.

Day 3: birding and manyatta people: kidepo valley is amazing place to do birding because the park hoists about 480 bird species that can be sighted within the park area, making it the second interested place to do birding after queen Elizabeth national park with about 630 bird species. Kidepo valley national park has about 20 Sudan and guinea savannah and 5 guinea Congo forest biome species, 4 of Uganda’s 34 of Somali- Masai biome species, and 23 afro- tropical highlands species that is recorded in the places of lonyili, morungole, Zulia and lomej with the characteristic mosaic of forest, savannah and thicket. Birds you will see in kidepo valley national park includes; ostrich, Kori bustard, red throated bee eaters, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Verreaux’s eagle, Egyptian vulture, pygmy falcon and so many others birds mentioned but a few. After bird watching in kidepo valley national park, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and preparation for manyatta people in kotindo. Immediately after lunch, check out of the lodge and embark to your journey to kotindo for manyatta people which is about 2 hours drive from the park to kotindo your arrival in kotindo, you will check in any lodge that the company has booked for you. And after you will go and enjoy the manyatta cultural way of living and life after drive back to the lodge for dinner and night stay while preparing for the next day journey to back to entebbe.

Day 4: transfer back to entebbe: wake very early morning, have breakfast and check out of the lodge, start off to your journey back to entebbe with stopover in Mbale town for lunch and then proceed to your way to entebbe via jinja town- kampala- entebbe.
